The responsible use of resources involves the structure, construction and services strategy and extends to all aspects of the project, including the provision of kitchen gardens as a learning tool. New buildings have load-bearing masonry walls where acoustic density is required and pre-fabricated timber panel walls and roofs elsewhere. Environmental control relies on natural ventilation driven through the stack effect generated by special chimneys.
