Studio Wayne McGregor

A new world-class arts space in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park comprises three extraordinary dance studios and additional workspaces facilitating all of Wayne McGregor’s creative work and learning programmes. Opened in 2016, the new space is located on the fourth floor of the former Broadcast Centre, a large steel portal frame building with long span composite floors. To allow for the maximum available column free space, the ambitious design proposal is to stack two large dance studios with sprung floors on top of each other. The insertion of this new dynamic space into an existing building posed significant structural challenges, in particular floor dynamics.
